Folks, if there is one sacred cow for the progressive socialist left, it is the incubator of dumb ideas called California. Even as they watch the abject societal demise of the once deemed “Golden State,” the coastal socialist elites, progressive crony capitalists, and brain-dead, progressive, socialist, leftist legislators in control refuse to alter course.
Yes, California has Silicon Valley, but it also has a massive agricultural base in mostly conservative inland regions. California is hemorrhaging private sector businesses, such as Toyota’s headquarters, to Texas, among others, due to its onerous tax policies. California is still the nation’s largest state, and holds the prize of 55 electoral votes in a presidential election.
With all this, it should come as no surprise, to any of us, this recent news. As reported by The Hill
“The California Supreme Court on Wednesday blocked a proposal to split the state into three from appearing as a ballot measure in November, according to multiple reports. The proposal, championed by venture capitalist Tim Draper, had gathered at least 600,000 signatures which was enough to earn a spot on the midterm ballot. The court said that it decided to remove the measure from the ballot “because significant questions have been raised regarding the proposition’s validity,” according to the Los Angeles Times. “We conclude that the potential harm in permitting the measure to remain on the ballot outweighs the potential harm in delaying the proposition to a future election,” the court wrote. If passed, the proposal, known as “Cal-3,” would have divided the state into California, Northern California and Southern California, each with similar populations. He [Draper] argues that having smaller states would give voters more power. The proposal was already facing one legal challenge from environmental nonprofit group the Planning and Conservation League, who argued that Cal-3 was too serious of a proposal to be approved by ballot measure, and raised concerns that it could result in weaker environmental protections in the state.”The left, as always, runs to the courts to maintain their control, and advance their ideological agenda. Folks, there are two very important points to convey from this story. First, the left, as always, runs to the courts to maintain their control, and advance their ideological agenda. If the standard to be on the ballot was met, then why does a State Supreme Court Justice get to thwart the desires of the people, the voters? The population wants a ballot measure, and they acquired enough signatures for that to happen. Who is the Court to use judicial activism to make their subjective decision? And, who is this nonprofit leftist environmental group to block the will of the people? I suppose these are the same chuckleheads draining the farmers’ water due to the stupid little delta smelt fish. Oh no, we certainly do not want those folks in the Valley to have their own State.
Second, just know this: the left fears that a three-way split, heck any split of California, would result in creating a red leaning entity. What if there was a possibility of two of the three new States were to be red, conservative, what happens for progressive socialists from a national electorate perspective? That would potentially mean more conservative Senators and Representatives, and most importantly, no more automatic 55 electoral votes in a presidential election. And if you think the left is going to allow that to happen, screw the petition signatures, you are delusional.
The conclusion is simple: the progressive socialist left needs California to continue to be the incubator of stupid ideas — such as universal basic income. They also need all of those 55 electoral votes, especially for the 2020 reelection cycle of President Trump. And, most importantly, they want to continue to inundate our Capitol Hill with the most deranged leftist politicians such as Mad Max Waters, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Lee, and Kamala Harris.
Never forget Churchill’s description of socialism, “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
The leftist socialists in California want everyone to equally share in their misery . . . and that includes all of America.
