Welcome ladies and gents — no gender-neutral personal pronouns here — to another week ending missive we have affectionately dubbed. “Stuck on Stupid Saturday.”
The progressive socialist left depends on one thing, making and exploiting victims. They cast aside anything that resembles personal or individual responsibility and accountability. Otherwise, how could Barry Soetoro and Hillary Clinton oversee an Islamic terrorist attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi Libya, lie about it, and never suffer any consequences? As a matter of fact, at this point, what difference does it make . . . right?
Well, this past week ol’ Capitol Hill was once again the scene of a member of Congress crying victim, when they were utterly guilty of serious ethics violations. Our nominee for this week’s Old School Patriot “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” recognition is none other than ex-California Congresswoman Katie Hill.
As reported by Townhall:
“Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) is gone. Well, it’s not official until tomorrow, but she has resigned in disgrace after it was revealed that she was having an improper relationship with a subordinate. That’s unethical and against House rules. There are legal arguments that one cannot offer consent to someone who also signs their paychecks. RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar broke the story that engulfed Hill’s office in controversy:
Photographs and text messages obtained by RedState show that Rep. Hill was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with a female campaign staffer. The woman, whose name is not being released, was hired by Hill in late 2017 and quickly became involved in a “throuple” relationship with Hill and her estranged husband, Kenny Heslep.
Heslep and the staffer, according to text messages provided to RedState, believed the polyamorous arrangement to be a long-term, committed relationship. The trio took multiple vacations together, including to Alaska…According to a source close to the staffer, the throuple agreed to continue their committed relationship when Hill moved to Washington, D.C. on January 2019, but that Heslep and the staffer quickly noticed a difference in Hill’s demeanor. By late May, Hill broke off her relationships with both Heslep and the staffer, claiming she wanted to focus on “this important work” and that it wasn’t fair to be involved in a relationship.
…after Hill left the throuple Heslep was told “by numerous sources” that Hill had been involved in a sexual relationship for a year with her then-finance director, now Legislative Director, Graham Kelly.”
I guess that I just learned something new, as I never heard of a doggone “throuple” before . . . Had y’all? But the story is not the sexual proclivities of Ms. Hill. Absolutely not. It is the fact that she involved herself, with text messages and photographs as evidence, with campaign and congressional staffers . . . That is a no-no. And yes, it is an ethics violation of the utmost concern.
But this is where the story takes a stuck on stupid turn. Anyone who has been caught with their hand this deep into the cookie jar should resign, which is what Ms. Hill did. But, why not just depart, silently, with no further attention brought to yourself? Nah, that is not what Ms. Hill chose to do. Instead, she took to the floor of the US House of Representatives, and yes, played the victim.
“I’m stepping down, but I refuse to let this experience scare off other women who dare to take risks, who dare to step into this light, who dare to be powerful,” Hill, who has denied the allegations, said in the nearly eight-minute speech.
“The way to overcome this setback is for women to keep showing up, to keep running for office, to keep stepping up as leaders, because the more we show up, the less power they have.” “The mistakes I’ve made and the people I’ve hurt that led to this moment will haunt me for the rest of my life,” Hill said.
“But I have more to say because this is bigger than me,” she added. “I’m leaving now because of a double standard. … I’m leaving because of a misogynistic culture that gleefully consumed my naked pictures, capitalized on my sexuality and enabled my abusive ex to continue that abuse.”
Hill ended by saying she was proud of her last official act, voting to affirm the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump — who has been accused of more than two dozen instances of sexual misconduct, all of which he denies — “on behalf of the women of the United States.”
“A large segment of society that fears and hates powerful women have combined to push a young woman out of power,” Hill said. “Yet a man who brags about his sexual predation, who has had dozens of women come forward to accuse him of sexual assault … sits in the highest office of the land.”
You can watch Ms. Hill’s eight-minute “farewell” speech here . . . if you wish.
But, I gotta give it to Katie, she went out just like the progressive socialists like, claiming her victim status, and finding a way to condemn President Donald Trump. I find it rather interesting, and a continuation of her display of being stuck on stupid, that she did not mention the double standard of one President Bill Clinton, who — like her — used his elected position to gain sexual power over a subordinate, a young intern named Monica Lewinsky. The real double standard is that the left has this case of situational ethics when it comes to the actions of a sitting president, as opposed to those of a private citizen.
See, Katie, no one gives a doggone that you are openly bisexual, but you cannot use and abuse your elected position to advance your sexual appetite. Lesson learned, young lady: when deep in a hole, stop digging. Now, you are once again a private citizen and can sleep with whomever you wish. But, if you do ever again obtain another leadership or supervisory role, we all hope that you have learned to keep your private business private, and not extend your proclivities into the workplace.
We kinda wish you well, and firmly expect to be seeing ya soon as a commentator on either CNN or MSNBC . . . which is where a lot of stuck on stupid people end up.
