First of all, let me offer my sincere congratulations to US Army 1LT Michael Behenna, whom I personally know. He has been fully pardoned by President Donald Trump. Here was yet another travesty of justice that harmed the life of a young Army soldier, combat leader. Once again, it was a case of the US Army prosecutors withholding exculpatory evidence in the case. Sounds familiar? It should, as it is the same with another young Army leader: Clint Lorance.
I know the progressive socialist left is going nuts, but y’all give it a rest, after all, Bowe Bergdahl and Bradley Manning are free, and they were responsible for friendly lives being lost. Just so you know, Michael Behenna’s mom, Vicki, was on the prosecution team of Timothy McVeigh, and dad, Scott, is former Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations.
That is the good news, now for the bad news.
We have another progressive socialist tyrant running for the Democrat (socialist) Party presidential nomination following the playbook of Hugo Chavez. We all ready know about ol’ Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, and Eric Swalwell. Now we can add “Spartacus” Booker to the mix. Not to be outdone, Booker has released his gun confiscation, disarmament, policy for the American people to digest. These chuckleheads certainly feel emboldened.
As reported by Townhall (via NYT):
“Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey rolled out a broad plan on Monday that seeks to combat gun violence through measures including a gun licensing program and a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
Aspects of Mr. Booker’s 14-part plan are among the most progressive gun-control measures suggested by a candidate seeking the Democratic nomination for president, and are likely to face sharp criticism from gun-rights advocates like the National Rifle Association.
[…] The most notable piece of Mr. Booker’s plan is the proposed gun licensing program, which would enact minimum standards for gun ownership nationwide. Under such a program, a person seeking to buy a gun would need to apply for a license in much the same way one applies for a passport.
Mr. Booker’s campaign said the process would involve submitting fingerprints and sitting for an interview, and would require applicants to complete a certified gun safety course. Each applicant would also undergo a federal background check before being issued a gun license, which would be valid for up to five years.
[…] Other parts of the plan include banning bump stocks, which enable semiautomatic weapons to fire faster; limiting bulk purchases of firearms; and closing the loopholes that allow domestic abusers and people on terrorist watch lists to obtain guns.
And the plan calls for the I.R.S. to investigate the N.R.A.’s tax-exempt status, an issue the New York attorney general is also exploring, causing considerable turmoil among the group’s leadership.
[…] …the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, is a specific target of Mr. Booker’s plan. In his announcement Monday, Mr. Booker said that if elected president, he would repeal it.”
Ol’ Sparty has vowed to “keep guns out of the wrong hands, hold gun manufacturers accountable, and take the fight to the NRA.” I must admit, two of those points, historically, sound very familiar. Oh yeah, that was what the British said. You know, those redcoats who stationed troops here in the Americas to ensure they could impose their scheme of tyrannical taxation without representation to pay off their war debt. As those British troops marched inland towards Concord, Massachusetts, their objective was to keep firearms out of the “wrong hands” and destroy a gun manufacturing factory.
Yes, those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
What unnerves me is that, obviously, this little man wants to be tough, and has probably never read the BATF Form 4473. Domestic abusers cannot acquire firearms legally — unless the government does not do its job, as we saw in Sutherland Springs. It was there that a known domestic abuser from the US Air Force did not have his record uploaded into the NICS system.
See, there comes a point when the empty rhetoric of these socialist dictators must be realized for what it is. Criminals do not follow laws, and the only thing all of this means, law-abiding, legal gun owners will be targeted…and why?
Y’all know why: the age-old understanding that an armed individual is a citizen, an unarmed one is a subject. As we are seeing in Venezuela, they become subjects who will end up being run over by government military vehicles while they can only throw rocks. And, the government will enlist their own thugs to terrorize the people — a Chavez blueprint. Yes, Hugo Chavez also masked his intent behind the emotional tug of “ending gun violence.” Read: ending potential civilian, citizen, resistance to tyranny.
I love it when I hear the leftists talk about “weapons of war” not being on our streets. Does that hold true for government forces as well? Last time I checked, the US military decided on a new semi-automatic handgun, the M17. Which is nothing more than a Sig Sauer p320, which I own. Does that mean ol’ Spartacus Booker is going to take away my firearm?
Also, we already have a system of gun permitting called concealed carry, and any person seeking to legally purchase a firearm undergoes a background check. What is all this nonsense Booker is proposing? Again, this is not about legal, law-abiding gun owners. Criminals don’t go and seek to legally purchase a firearm.
I must ask, why must a citizen pay a fee to the government to exercise their Second Amendment, individual, constitutional right? Think about it, do we pay to be licensed to exercise our freedom of religion? Or how about free speech, expression, and the right to petition our government for a redress of grievances? Or, Fourth Amendment individual rights? Who will set the fee for this new “gun passport” that Booker is proposing? And sitting for an interview, well, guess what? Right along with the free healthcare, we will all be standing in line awaiting our “appointment” for knee replacement, and our personal firearm.
The criminals will just bypass all these insidious restrictions and obtain their weapons as they usually do: illegally.
Let me caution all of you progressive socialist leftists. If you really think you are going to end the National Rifle Association because of the transgressions of a few, you’re nuts. The NRA is not a building, it is some 100 million people, and, if anything, we will be stronger. We are not going to surrender, nor go quietly into the annals of history and be another example of the triumph of tyranny. No, we will not comply, and you may end up learning the lesson of King George III. Americans do not respond well to the threats of tyranny.
If the progressive socialist left wants to make gun confiscation and disarmament a cornerstone issue of the 2020 election, they will lose horribly. We know where this leads and these delusional, maniacal, socialist tyrants are embracing open borders, and flooding our country with illegal immigrants, criminals, drug cartels, illegal immigrant gangs, and Islamic jihadists. We will be damned if we will be rendered defenseless victims.
Hey, Spartacus Booker, you best learn the meaning of these Greek words: Molon Labe!
