Hubris: Jussie Smollett Case Update

One would think that as the beneficiary of a corrupt system of justice, one would just shut up and disappear. However, this does not seem to be the case in one of the most bizarre instances of prosecutorial activism that we have seen since, well, the James Comey and Hillary Clinton private email server case adjudication. As I asked in yesterday’s column, how do they get away with it?

Well, in the case of Jussie Smollett, it appears there was some very interesting intervention. Again, just as in the Mueller investigation, it leads us back to the Obamas. Yes, just as it appears that Barack Obama used undue influence to leverage the power of government intelligence agencies against a presidential candidate, and American citizens, it now appears the former First Lady, through a close associate, former Chief of Staff, Tina Tchen, left fingerprints on this case. It would appear that Ms. Tchen is on record, via text message, of having corresponded with the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx to express “concerns” and asked that Ms. Foxx “lean” on the Chicago Superintendent of Police, Eddie Johnson. And, as Michelle Malkin points out in her piece on Townhall yesterday, there seem to be some close ties between Tchen and members of Smollett’s family, namely his sisters.

Doggone, corruption is so very rampant in Chicago and Cook County. SA Foxx recused herself, but does that have any real relevance in this case? She hand-picked the person to take the lead.

Now, all of a sudden, without any consultation with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, or Superintendent Johnson, the prosecutor’s office decides to drop all sixteen counts, charges, felony charges. Just like that. The question has to be asked, why was Smollett charged if they did not believe the charges were valid? The Chicago Police do not charge anyone, they investigate, and arrest, based upon the conferring of charges, which is based upon the evidence presented. If we are now being told by the Cook County State’s Attorney office that they did not feel there was sufficient evidence, then why did they bring charges in the first place?

See, I hate it when folks assume that we are all a bunch of dumbasses who do not think.

The other point of contention is that if all charges against Smollet are dropped, then is he telling the truth? Do we need a new investigation into who committed the assault against him?

I mean, we just gotta find those two white guys who were out on a frigid Chicago night at 2 am walking around with red MAGA hats — meaning their heads would freeze and their ears should have evidence of frostbite — carrying bleach and a hanging noose. My question to SA Foxx is when are they going to reopen the case and find those two white guys? After all, all charges against Smollett are being dropped, his record expunged, so if he did not concoct all of this, then just who are the guilty individuals? I guess those muscle-bound Nigerian brothers were mistaken. And, that video showing them making the purchases of said items “allegedly” to have been used against Smollett is all a figment of our imagination.

After all, it was two white guys in red MAGA hats middle of a very cold night who perpetrated this crime. That has to be the case if all charges are dropped against Smollett. If this was not an elaborate, but crappy hoax, produced by Jussie Smollett, then doesn’t Ms. Foxx want to see the actual culprits brought to justice? God knows before Chicago’s winter temperatures heat up in spring’s thaw, and they wander the streets yet again on a frozen night with Clorox and hangman’s noose.

All of this being the case, let’s talk about what has to be the grandest display of hubris we have seen in quite some time . . . yes, “bigly!”

As reported by Breitbart News:

“Appearing Wednesday on ABC’s Good Morning America, Jussie Smollett attorney Tina Glandian told anchor George Stephanopoulos that the Empire star is mulling a lawsuit against the Chicago Police Department over their handling of his alleged hate hoax case.

On Tuesday, Cook County, Illinois prosecutors suddenly dropped all charges against Jussie Smollett after the Empire actor, who is alleged to have staged a racist and homophobic attack against himself, sacrificed his $10,000 bail.

Smollett denies all wrongdoing and maintains he was attacked in downtown Chicago on January 29th.

[Smollet’s lawyer Tina Glandian] stated, “We’re weighing our options now. For Jussie, what’s important is he really just wants his career and his life back. Again, he did not ask for any of this. He was a victim of a crime. This has completely spiraled out of control and become a political event at this point, and his goal and focus right now is just getting his life back on track. He’s not even started healing from the initial attack because he’s been dealing with everything that’s happened since then. I don’t know, I mean, we’re shocked at the mayor and the police superintendent doubling down yesterday when the prosecutor after a dispassion look at the evidence realized that it does not hold up and chose to voluntarily dismiss all counts and expunge his record. So at this point, we’re going to weigh our options and see how this develops.”

Folks, that is what I call hubris!

If I were Smollett and his legal team, my recommendation would be to move to a very remote area in Alaska and fish for salmon the rest of his life. Can you imagine the abject arrogance to say that you were going to consider, weigh options, as to filing a lawsuit against the Chicago PD? I can tell you one thing: if Smollett and his legal team had the delusional, deranged audacity to file a lawsuit against the Chicago PD, you can bet that there is a file on him waiting to be dropped.

I do not think there are ten people in the United States who place any credibility in what Smollett says. I mean when people believe you to be a maniacal fabricator of the truth you should first try to restore your reputation — “that dawg don’t hunt.”

Here’s the deal: either something happened to Jussie Smollett, or it did not. Smollett says he did not create this false narrative, that there was an attack on him. Then we need to find those white fellas with the MAGA hats. Smollett still maintains that there was an attack against him, then by whom? Based upon the decision by the Cook County SA office, Smollett is not guilty, free to go. Then, where are these white men?

If Smollett is innocent, with all charges dropped, then the assailants still walk free. If the opposite, then Smollett has just gotten away with sidestepping felony charges because the Cook County SA office made the determination that his criminal actions were not violent . . . not that they were not criminal, just not violent.

Ain’t it grand to be a part of the progressive socialist elite class that is far and above the cut line of justice under which you and I exist Weighing options to sue? As Clint Eastwood would say, “go ahead punk, make my day.”

There is only one conclusion to this case . . . FUBAR!
