Independence Day for Clint Lorance

In Front Page, Military by Allen WestLeave a Comment

Today is Monday, and there are 48 hours until it is the 242nd Anniversary of American Independence from the British. And, I think it is 48 hours from when Army 1LT Clint Lorance should be back home in Texas having good ol’ Texas BBQ with his mom and family for Independence Day.

And why not?

Damn it, Bowe Bergdahl is somewhere enjoying Independence Day. He is the admitted deserter who endangered the lives of fellow soldiers, several of whom died, and others severely wounded in search and recovery efforts. Barack Obama gave up five senior members of the Taliban. Heck, they are free on Independence Day. You know who is else free on Independence Day? The Army judge who decided to release Bowe Bergdahl, even though he pleaded guilty to crimes that are punishable by death under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). That’s right, the judge made an activist decision, and failed to uphold military justice, the rule of law that governs our men and women in uniform. Where is he?

This Wednesday, the 242nd Anniversary of our American Independence, Bradley Manning — a traitor — is free. Manning, who divulged over 700K pieces of classified information, is free because he thinks he’s a girl. Honestly, who gives a doggone about his gender dysphoria? He put the lives of many in danger, and, yes, in a combat zone. Here’s another offense under the UCMJ that is punishable by death. But, instead, Manning ran for US Senate in Maryland, and will be enjoying, well, whatever they eat in Maryland for Independence Day . . . I guess BBQ crab cakes.

Oh yes, the fella who was president last time around released the five Taliban leaders for a deserter — that supposedly served with honor and distinction. The same fella who commuted the sentence of a traitor because they were confused if they were a boy or a girl is Barack Obama. I wonder where he will be on Independence Day? After all, Clint Lorance was imprisoned in Ft. Leavenworth on his watch.

Allen West Old School Patriot Up From SlaveryNow, we all know the truth: the US Army withheld vital exculpatory evidence in the trial of Clint. Bottom line, Clint did not order to firing upon of Afghan civilians, these were Taliban fighters, and it was in the hotbed of Zheri District — yes, a s!@thole of a place. So, on this Independence Day, where are the Army prosecutors who lied in Clint’s case in order to incarcerate someone who did what the American people expect of a combat leader — engage and kill the enemy?

My question to Army Secretary Mark Esper, Army Chief of Staff General Mark Miley, Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joe Dunford, and President Donald Trump, the Commander-in-Chief: where will y’all be this Independence Day? Will you be with your families enjoying all the celebrations. Will you talk about how you love our troops and how great our military is? Will those accolades include the Army judge that released Bowe Bergdahl and the Army JAG officers who lied in the case of Clint Lorance?

There are 48 hours before Independence Day, y’all do the right thing and pardon Army 1LT Clint Lorance. If you fail to do so, then I will call upon a meltdown of your phone and email lines. There is no possible way that you do not know of this travesty of justice. What are y’all afraid of? Could it be that Barack Obama possesses more intestinal fortitude than you all? I mean how many Islamic jihadists did he release from GITMO, and yet somehow, y’all cannot find the courage to release Clint Lorance?

Shame on all of you, but, there are 48 hours, and this can happen. Tuesday evening, Clint can be freed, walk out of Ft. Leavenworth, pardoned, his rank restored with back pay, heading home to Texas to celebrate the 242nd Anniversary of our Independence from Great Britain.

If Clint remains in Ft. Leavenworth on this Independence Day, well, it tells me, and perhaps others, all we need to know about you. And, I, for one, will have lost a little bit of respect and regard for each of you.

Steadfast and Loyal, Lieutenant Colonel Allen B. West (US Army, Retired)
