During my service to our nation as a member of the 112th Congress, one of the benefits of being in the majority was to submit the name of a minister to open up the congressional session in prayer. I submitted the name of my Pastor, Scott Eynon, of Community Christian Church in Tamarac, Florida. Pastor Scott is a true man of God. I will never forget election night of 2010, he and I sat in his office and watched the classic film, “The Robe.” I felt at peace and just wanted to be in God’s presence and see His will be done. After the movie, I drove up to Boca Raton for the election night gathering.
When I got the word that Pastor Scott had been approved and would be opening up the House of Representatives in prayer, we were all excited. Yes, he had to submit his prayer for review, which was not a problem. He went through all the background checks, and that was certainly not a problem. In my home, I still have the picture of myself along with Pastor Scott, and Speaker of the House John Boehner. What a pleasure to have Scott honored with a short floor speech.
Well, recently, there was another “religious leader,” who was selected to deliver a prayer to open up a session of Congress. Mind you, we know who has the majority political party in the House of Representatives.
As reported by the Investigative Project:
“Islam’s holy month of Ramadan began Sunday, so it’s not surprising that the U.S. House turned to a Muslim cleric to provide Thursday’s invocation. The problem is with the cleric chosen. Omar Suleiman is a conservative imam who has a history of spewing hatred toward Israel and who holds views about gays and women that would spark outrage on the left if they came from a preacher of any other faith.
Suleiman is the founder and president of the Irving, Texas-based Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research.
U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, invited him to give Thursday’s invocation, a Yaqeen Institute statement said. Suleiman’s honor of giving the invocation was touted by Zahra Billoo, a California chapter director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and among the most rabid Israel haters among CAIR’s stable of Israel haters.
“We pray for peace, not war,” he said. “Love not hate. Benevolence, not greed. Unity, not division. And we commit ourselves to not betraying our prayers with actions that contradict them. Let us be for truth, no matter who, or for is against it.” Love, not hate. Unity, not division.”
If you are not aware, perhaps you should study the Islamic theory of taqquiya. Here are just a few examples of what Suleiman has said:
– In an August 2014 Facebook post, Suleiman seemed to side with Hamas in denying that the terrorist group uses human shields in an attempt to stop the Israeli military from retaliating against rocket fire sent from Gaza into Israeli civilian communities.
– Suleiman spoke at a 2017 rally outside the White House protesting the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the U.S. embassy there. The rally was organized by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), a group which seeks “to challenge the legitimacy of the State of Israel” and is tied to a defunct Hamas-support network in the United States.
“Your recognition means nothing to us,” he said. “Your maps mean nothing to us, your embassy is as illegitimate as the occupation it seeks to legitimize. Our land is our land, our dignity is our dignity. Our determination is our determination. Our boycott is our boycott. Our Aqsa [the holy mosque in Jerusalem] is our Aqsa. Our Palestine is our Palestine.”
– Suleiman also pushed the anti-Semitic trope that Israel controls American foreign policy, sneering that it is the “51st state.”
Heck, why not just use Rep. Ilhan Omar’s words, ya know, “it’s all about the Benjamin’s”.
– Suleiman compared gays and lesbians to people who engage in incest and bestiality. They deserve to be treated well even though they engage in “an act of sexual deviance,” he said.
“… We believe it’s wrong. It’s obviously harmful to society. Obviously, it’s not natural, because of human reproduction and all the diseases and things of that sort that come as a result. But, if someone is a homosexual, they’re not a, it’s not, you know what’s worse, homosexuality or saying Allah has a son? You see we still treat people who say Allah has a son with goodness, and we should. We should be kind and courteous and try to help them with that wrong idea or that wrong practice. Now, what if someone says, ‘But what if someone is born that way, what if someone is a homosexual and they can’t help that?’ Then we would say that not every impulse is to be acted upon. OK? We don’t allow bestiality. We don’t allow incest.”
Now, ask yourselves: what would the progressive socialist left have done if the person I sponsored to deliver opening prayer in the US House of Representatives had said anything close to this? Yes, y’all know where I am going with this. The blatant hypocrisy is astounding, laughable. So, I just wanna know, who was the stuck on stupid person that suggested Omar Suleiman deliver the opening prayer in “The People’s House,” meaning the American people.
Who were the chuckleheads who either failed to conduct a background search or had no problem with Suleiman’s previous statements? Then again, perhaps we should ask Nancy Pelosi and her gang of progressive socialists in the US House of Representatives if they have no issue with militant Islamist, Islamic jihadist, assertions? Heck, the House Democrat (socialists) could not even bring themselves to bring forth a resolution against the anti-Semitic comments of one of their own, Ilhan Omar. Y’all know what happens when you reward, dismiss, bad behavior? Yes, we call it Pavlovian, you get more bad behavior.
Now, let’s consider this little tidbit: this individual, Omar Suleiman, delivers a prayer in the US House of Representatives right after we learn about the hate-filled song by the children at the Muslim American Society (MAS) Islamic center in Philadelphia. The tepid response by the Democrat (socialist) mayor of Philadelphia is very telling . . . the same mayor who would not condemn an Islamic jihadist shooting of a Philadelphia police officer, even though the individual confessed his allegiance to ISIS.
So, let me analyze this: the Democrat [Socialist] party has a member who affirms that 911 was just “some people did something.” The same Democrat (socialist) Party allows an anti-Semitic Islamic leader who has made reprehensible statements about the LGBTQ community to deliver a prayer in the House of Representatives.
Oh, and we found out that the shooter in the Colorado STEM school was anti-Christian and anti-President Trump. Told ya, I knew they were not NRA members. Houston, I think we have a problem.
The problem is that the recipients of this week’s dubious Old School Patriot “Stuck on Stupid Saturday” award are, first, Rep. Eddie Bernice-Johnson, and everyone that allowed Omar Suleiman to stand in the US House of Representatives and utter a word. Suleiman is just another wolf in sheep’s clothing.
However, I think the words attributed to a great man of antiquity, a Roman statesman named Marcus Tullius Cicero, best describe this episode of “Stuck on Stupid Saturday.” Read and reflect:
It is dangerous when the Stuck on Stupid enable our enemies to freely operate within our gates, in the very institutions of our Democracy.
