Solving America’s Health Care Problem

In Front Page, Healthcare by Allen WestLeave a Comment

The midterm elections are over and we are getting feedback from exit polls. It appears that the number one issue, according to those who responded, was health care, followed by the economy, and illegal immigration.

If there is one thing you have to credit the progressive socialists for, it’s being able to message. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have the liberal progressive media espousing your talking points. Not only does the liberal progressive media regurgitate the left’s talking points, but they also make sure never to mention their political opposition’s accomplishments . . . like the economy. Trust me, it’s not lost on me that we hear not a doggone thing about ISIS since Donald Trump became president.

But, what is so very laughable is how the Democrats can screw up something, and still blame Republicans for it, namely, health care. Now, realize, the GOP screwed the pooch ranting about how they were going to repeal and replace Obamacare . . . but they needed the House of Representatives. No, we really need the Senate to repeal and replace Obamacare. No, we really need the White House to repeal and replace Obamacare. That day finally came when all the stars aligned, and the GOP fell flat on their faces. However, to hear the news media, and the very skilled liars of the progressive socialist left, the Republicans are to blame for higher premiums, reduced access to health care, and the dearth of private sector health insurance coverage.

We continue to hear about how the Republicans were the ones who are offering cuts to Medicare. Hmm, actually, the only folks who cut Medicare were the Democrats, who cut Medicare Advantage programs in order to fund the absurd scheme called Obamacare.

But, once again, give the little leftists credit, they know the American people very well; give them something under the guise of “free” and be damned if you try to rectify it. Actually, I believe that Obamacare was rigged to fail, and, therefore, the left would be able to advocate for their real healthcare objective — a single-payer system. Guess what, they never really explained to y’all what that means. See, a single payer healthcare system means that you, the individual citizen, are relegated to a subject, and no longer have any choice in your health care needs. It is all centrally controlled, and paid for, by the government. So, Medicare for all sounds really awesome, right? Hmm, nope, especially if you are a senior. What happens to them when everyone is on the system intended for them? Well, the answer is rationing by way of a group of bureaucrats called the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) which is part of Obamacare.

So, no, you do not get to keep your health insurance or your preferred doctor. But hey, do not expect the left, or their media allies, to tell you that. It’s easy to say something is “free” and “for all,” but in the end, Medicare for all means health care for no one . . . such an easy message response to the insidious offers of the progressive socialist left.

Here’s what should be done, of course, and it would take 4-5 pages, but these are some basics. Those folks that are at or below the poverty level have Medicaid, a government-run health care program. The issue of affordable health care mainly centered on those just above the poverty level who worked but were not able to obtain quality health care . . . the working poor. A simple solution would have been to determine this income level and allow them to claim their health insurance on their personal tax returns. Also, expand the use of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) for this income level and perhaps the two levels above it. HSAs are supposed to be sequestered dollars, tax-free, used by an individual for routine health care needs. Obamacare taxes HSAs — something the Democrats are not going to tell you.

If you wanna make health insurance more affordable, break down the state-by-state mini-monopolies of the health insurance companies. You know, allow more open competition. Allow small businesses to pool together and receive the same lower rate opportunities as some larger businesses.

Yep, these are just some viable policy solutions, but when ol’ Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stand up and blather about “Medicare for all,”, well, that’s easy for “useful idiots” to comprehend.

So, as we embark upon this folly of a Mobocrat controlled House of Representatives, prepare to hear about Medicare for all. Please, please, do not fall for the same old tired progressive socialist lie, and lose your health care privilege. That’s right, “privilege,” because, no, it is not a right. The more you allow the left to dictate rights, and believe that they grant them, know that they can also take them away.

However, let’s all acknowledge this very simple fact: the Democrats screwed up our health care system, intentionally. They may try to blame others, but the evidence is indisputable. They did so in order to create the opportunity to move us all, like mindless lemmings, onto a fully government-run, single-payer health care system.

Now, do y’all really want to go to the VA Hospital for your health care? That is what they are talking about. Ever wonder why Obama and the progressive socialists never tried to fix the VA?
