It just never ceases to amaze me how the left in America can align itself with the criminal element. At the State of the Union address, we witnessed that the left places more care and concern with criminal illegal immigrants than they do Americans. The policies of the left results in creating sanctuaries for illegal immigrants, all to the detriment of the safety and security of the American people.
As President Trump asserted in his address, the only sanctuary in America should be a sanctuary for American citizens. The aspiring Democrat (Socialist) Party presidential candidates have all pledged to provide taxpayer free benefits to those in our country illegally.
But, what happens when the left pass laws that directly result in the deaths of Americans? Is there any retribution?
As reported by NY Post:
“Long Island authorities on Wednesday implied that a man set to testify against MS-13 gang members was killed as a result of criminal-justice reforms requiring prosecutors share witnesses’ identities with defendants. Nassau County officials, including the police commissioner and county executive, announced the death of 36-year-old Wilmer Maldonado on Wednesday — while also decrying the discovery laws that took effect Jan. 1.
“The system failed, the system failed,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said at a press conference.
“This man is dead because we didn’t do enough … and this law is not helping us.”
Maldonado was discovered bludgeoned to death behind an abandoned home in New Cassel on Sunday, according to Nassau County police. He was allegedly attacked by nine MS-13 members in October 2018 after intervening when the group threatened two boys.
The suspects allegedly beat all three victims, stabbing Maldonado several times and knocking him in the head with a bat, officials said. Prosecutors last December revealed Maldonado’s identity to an arrested suspect’s defense team as a result of the recently enacted laws compelling the state to turn over the names of witnesses in criminal cases.
Before then, Maldonado’s identity was concealed through a court-issued protective order obtained by prosecutors in December 2018, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “This case underscores the importance of safeguarding the identities of witnesses and victims of crime and our hearts are with Mr. Maldonado’s family and friends as we grieve his loss,” Singas said in a statement. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said: “These new discovery requirements pose a threat to both the victims and witnesses of crimes.”
If you follow this story, you will read that NY State Democrat legislators are not reticent about this law they passed. Nope, they are attacking the Nassau County officials who are on the frontlines dealing with this scourge called MS-13.
“Long Island officials were “blatantly lying” when they linked the criminal justice reforms to the death of a witness in an MS-13 gang-assault case, state Democratic officials charged Thursday.
“It’s clear that the officials charged with implementing these reforms are hoping they’ll fail,” Senate Democratic spokesman Mike Murphy said in a statement to The Post. “Even worse, they are blatantly lying, politicizing tragedies, and trying to scare the public.”
The scapegoating came Wednesday when Nassau County authorities announced the death of 36-year-old Wilmer Maldonado Rodriguez over the weekend — and used the platform to slam New York’s new discovery laws that took effect Jan. 1, requiring prosecutors hand over a list of witnesses to defense attorneys in criminal cases.”
Trying to scare the public? Really?
A man is dead, yet you saw no remorse from the NY State Senate Democrat spokesperson. All they are concerned about is their insidious ideological agenda, so-called criminal justice reform. This is not a reform, it is giving an advantage to the criminals and placing the lives of victims, and witnesses, at risk.
It is just the same here in Texas where we face the scourge of being the number one state in the Union for human and sex trafficking. Yet, we still have delusional individuals here who support open borders and decriminalizing illegal crossing of our border. When it comes to our citizens, we will always take a back seat if we are up against the ideological agenda of the left.
Here, locally, in Dallas, we have a new Democrat District Attorney, John Cruezot, who has openly stated that crimes of a value under $750 will not be prosecuted. So, who wins there?
There is no debate about the lawlessness of the progressive socialist left. The rule of law, our Constitution, is not law if it does not align with the left’s goals, objectives, and agenda. Think of this, in New York, you can be hunted down by a criminal illegal gang like MS-13, but you cannot have your Second Amendment right to defend yourself. I just have to ask if Wilmer Maldonado Rodriguez had the right to be armed? Perhaps, the outcome would have been different, and he would be alive.
Then again, if his information had not been forcibly released to the defense representation . . .
