I do have to start this missive by asking a question. They call today “Black Friday,” is that racist? I mean what exactly is that connotative meaning here? Hey, no worries, I jest. I couldn’t care less what they call today. I am enjoying some good ol’ fashioned American college football. Doggone it, it’s hard to believe, another college football season is winding to an end!!!! Oh well, such are the seasons in our lives, and I will just have to tolerate another bad football season for my Tennessee Volunteers.
Now, speaking of tolerance, y’all see those progressive socialist bumper stickers that talk about “coexistence” and “tolerance,” right? I must admit, I find it amusing that the very folks that display these signs are the most intolerant among us all. I mean, when it comes to their understanding and acceptance of tolerance, they remind me of that iconic line from Treasure of the Sierra Madre, “Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!”
What exactly is the left’s definition of “tolerance?” It’s simple: they tolerate you agreeing with what they believe, nothing less is, well, tolerated. Free speech has been redefined to mean acceptable speech, speech, ideas, thoughts, perspectives, and values that align with what they have termed acceptable. And if not, then they are not obliged to tolerate it.
Yes, I know, the progressive socialists who, for whatever reason, have nothing better to do than troll my writings and render their intolerant responses are ready to hit send. And that is why they are their own best advertisement for their intolerance. And, I have another example of such. As reported by CNS News:
“A Christian student senator at the University of California-Berkeley is facing pressure from her peers to resign from the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC), the school’s officially recognized student organization, because she abstained from an Oct. 31 vote about the legal definition of gender. Isabella Chow, a junior, abstained from an ASUC resolution that opposed the “Trump administration’s proposed definition of sex under Title IX.” According to The New York Times, the proposal by the Department of Health and Human Services would legally define sex as “either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with.” In explaining her decision to abstain from the vote, Chow cited her Christian beliefs.
“I cannot vote for this bill without compromising my values and my responsibility to the community that elected me to represent them,” Chow wrote in a statement on Facebook. “As a Christian, I personally do believe that certain acts and lifestyles conflict with what is good, right, and true. I believe that God created male and female at the beginning of time, and designed sex for marriage between one man and one woman.”
Many of Chow’s peers were angered by her refusal to vote in favor of the resolution. The Queer Alliance Resource Center at U.C. Berkeley created a petition calling for her resignation. CalTV released a statement condemning her. Her own political party, Student Action, disaffiliated with her. “As a party, we are committed to ensuring that the rights and dignity of the Queer and Trans community on this campus are guaranteed,” Student Action wrote in its statement, adding that the party had “resolved to part ways with ASUC Senator Isabella Chow due to inconsistencies between her beliefs and the mission of Student Action.” In addition, The Daily Californian, U.C. Berkeley’s student-run newspaper, wrote an editorial condemning Chow’s statements as “transphobic” and “homophobic.” “Chow’s language erased and dehumanized individuals who already experience marginalization and violence at a significant rate,” the editorial board wrote. “She perpetuated the stigma that individuals who identify outside the gender binary face on a daily basis. Chow must stop framing these remarks as personal opinions or views. These statements are offensive and disturbing invalidations of human beings.”
So much for those Tolerance bumper stickers huh?
Isabella Chow, an Asian female, is being assailed by those lovely little safe-space loving, “tolerant,” leftist kiddos because she abstained from a vote based upon her Christian beliefs. She said nothing disparaging, but just affirmed her belief in two genders, and traditional marriage between one man and one woman. For that, she is being denigrated, shunned, treated like some apostate . . . well, to the progressive socialist left she is.
The fact that she would dare not be a part of the collective group think, or dare to have a belief system evidencing an incongruity with the prevailing leftist campus dogma, well, she must be burned at the stake as a heretic. Why? Why is it that anyone not accepting the left’s ideological agenda is so publicly demeaned? It’s simple: the left does not want civility, intellectual debate, or discourse; they want subjugation, surrender, and dominance. What Isabella Chow is being subjected to is true tyranny, and it is not even hidden, nor is there any shame.
It is intellectually incompetent and morally corrupt, to castigate her statement as hatred, as “transphobic” or “homophobic.” Perhaps the real classification should be that these little tyrannical socialists-in-training are “Christian-phobic.”
In her statement, Chow asserted that “discrimination against or harassment of” anyone is “never, ever okay,” and affirmed the value of members of the LGBTQ community. “In God’s eyes and therefore my own, every one of you here today and in the LGBTQ+ community as a whole is significant, valid, wanted, and loved – even if and when our views differ,” she wrote.
It appears to me that Isabella Chow took a loving, caring, yet principled stance because of her Christian faith, and belief, yet was met with intolerance, and abject ugliness as a response. She is now enduring a level of persecution that is unconscionable, but we have all but come to realize, and see it more and more often from the so-called tolerant leftists.
This is the mentality that is now in control of the US House of Representatives. A mentality displayed by California Congressman Eric Swalwell who quipped that the government would use force against its own citizens to deny them of their Constitutional Second Amendment right. It appears that these little demons who are attacking Isabella Chow seek to deny her Constitutional First Amendment right, Freedom of Religion, her Christian faith. I just have to ask, would these baby tyrants have reacted the same way to a Muslim student senator who voted to abstain from such a resolution? And let me remind these students, that Freedom of Religion is the very first freedom, liberty, in our Bill of Rights. However, based upon the ignorance of Congresswoman-Elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez about our three branches of government, I doubt these baby progressive socialists have any concept about our Constitution.
I would offer that the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC) is not a governing body, but rather a ruling gang. And may I pose to them a question: how do you “advance” the rights of one group, by denying the rights of another?
Tolerance? The progressive socialist left does not need tolerance, it is an impediment to their ideological domination. After all, Hillary Clinton reaffirmed this when she stated that there will only be civility when they [progressive socialists] are in control, power.
The left’s definition of civility, tolerance, is nothing more than tyranny.
God bless you, Isabella Chow, and we are with you, 100%. But always remember the words from Isaiah 54:17 (New International Version):
“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.”
